A 15-year-old is dead after a shooting in Newport News today. Police were called to 16th Street around 6:15a.m. where they found the teen with a gunshot wound. He died from his injuries at the hospital. The teen was reportedly a student at Menchville High School. Newport News Mayor Philip Jones issued a statement calling the shooting a "senseless tragedy." Police are looking for suspects as the investigation continues.

Richmond City Council has voted for a resolution to make sure residents have access to high-speed internet. It's known as the Digital Equity Implementation Plan and councilmembers say it will help bridge the digital divide throughout the city. City officials also say they plan on declaring high speed internet access a public necessity.

Some students in the Chesapeake area will be leaving school early later this month thanks to Luke Bryan. The country star has a concert at Heritage Park September 20th and traffic could be an issue. So, the district announce Hickory High and Middle Schools will have virtual learning that day and Hickory Elementary and Southeastern Elementary will be dismissed early.
