A Smithfield man is the third person locally to file a lawsuit against Boar's Head. The lawsuit claims that Robert Reposa contracted listeria after purchasing and eating the company's deli meat. The 48-million dollars suit claims that Boar's Head knew of unsanitary practices and failed to maintain safety protocols when preparing products. A Williamsburg woman has also filed a lawsuit against the company as did the family of a Newport News man who died after eating the Boar's Head deli meat. The Jarratt facility has since announced is it closed indefinitely Boar's Head also says it will hire a new chief food safety officer and begin a food safety council to prevent future outbreaks.

A Richmond man accused of shooting two people outside of George Wythe High School last year will spend nine years behind bars. WRIC-TV reports that 19-year-old David Gutierrez was sentenced Monday on his many charges. He was found guilty in February for the 2023 shooting of two other students -- both survived. At the time, Gutierrez was a student at the school as well.
