The Dali cargo ship involved in the deadly Baltimore bridge collapse is leaving Norfolk. It's been at the Port of Virginia since June for repairs following the March Key Bridge accident. This week the Department of Justice announced a 100-million dollar lawsuit against the owner and operator of the ship.

The superintendent of Virginia Beach City Public Schools is addressing recent threats made against schools. Chief Schools Officer Matt Delaney says several schools in the district have received threats on social media and it is significantly disruptive to the education environment. Schools throughout the district have sent an email out to parents about the threats. Virginia Beach Police say they are still investigating the origin of the post and say it could lead to charges being filed.

A Richmond bar has been sent a cease-and-desist from the Virginia Department of Health for hosting an event for a sober group. The KavaClub bar sells Kava tea which is made with a plant that has a mild psychoactive effect. The club says they received the letter for holding an event for the support group called Riffs and Recovery. The VDH says they require the establishment to ensure an honest presentation of kava and prohibit it from advertising the event as an option for sobriety. Kava is legal to purchase in Virginia.
Newly passed legislation seeks to help the most troubled kids in the Foster Care system. It mandates tracking for those who run away from their placements as a way to find out if there are underlying issues. The bill's author, Congressman Tony Gonzales, says there is a federal law that requires the reporting of missing foster children within 24 hours. However, the Texas republican says some states still struggle to implement these protocols.
