A 12-year-old girl has been arrested in northern Virginia after allegedly stabbing two people. Prince William County police say the girl was arguing with a man at an apartment complex in Woodbridge on Saturday when she grabbed a knife and stabbed him. A 19-year-old member of her family reportedly tried to intervene and was also stabbed. The girl was charged with two counts of malicious wounding and sent to the Prince William County Juvenile Detention Center.
Sentara Norfolk General Hospital has installed blood vending machines as part of a pilot project to provide doctors with quick and safe access to blood products. Transfusion Services Manager Christie McGhee tells WAVY the machines allow staff to easily retrieve the needed blood by scanning their badge and patient ID.Preview: This remote blood bank system could prove to be extremely valuable to the hospital, especially in urgent cases where blood is needed quickly. The hospital does over 2,200 transfusions per month and encourages regular blood donations to maintain an adequate supply.
