First responders are working through the night following a midair plane collision near Ronald Reagan National Airport. The Black Hawk helicopter was on a routine training flight when it collided with a passenger flight from Wichita, Kansas coming in for approach, sending both the plane and the helicopter into the Potomac River. The helicopter had three crewmembers onboard and the plane - American Eagle flight 5342 - had 60 passengers and four crewmembers. Ronald Reagan National will remain closed until at least 11 a.m. Airport officials say updates will be posted to social media and passengers should call their airlines for schedule updates.

The governor spoke yesterday about the latest report from the National Assessment of Educational Progress. This week's report shows that Virginia's fourth and eighth-grade test scores in 2024 were close to the national average. Youngkin said the scores were expected and don't reflect the progress shown on last year's SOL tests. He also said that education standards enacted by his administration are working and that he hopes to see further improvement on this year's tests.
