Attorney General Jason Miyares has taken action against stores in southwest Virginia that have been selling marijuana under the guise of "sharing" with customers who purchase legal hemp products. Miyares issued warning letters to two stores for selling products with illegal levels of THC and lacking proper labeling and packaging. The stores have until October 18 to comply or face fines. This crackdown comes as Virginia grapples with its unique cannabis laws that allow possession but prohibit sales, leading to a proliferation of stores creatively selling marijuana in various forms.  
 
 
Virginia is sending more help to Florida to support recovery efforts after Hurricane Milton. Governor Youngkin issued an executive directive yesterday authorizing the mobilization of up to 300 Virginia National Guard members who will deploy to Florida for up to 45 days. Virginia will also keep the Emergency Operations Center open to coordinate all assistance to Florida.  
 
 
The IRS is vowing to expedite about ten-billion dollars in delayed pandemic aid to businesses hit hard by the recent hurricanes. The agency said Thursday that 400-thousand claims are now being processed for eligible business owners who applied for tax refunds under the Employee Retention Credit program that was signed into law by former president Trump during the COVID pandemic. The IRS didn't offer a timeline, but said it was accelerating work on those claims.
