A Chesterfield County woman is experiencing problems with voting by mail. Betsy Spath says the registrar's office told her that her ballot was mailed to her September 20th, but she hasn't received it yet. She says she has heard of others not getting their ballots yet, either. Spath says she ordered another mail-in ballot, but she's worried it won't arrive in time. She says she's really nervous because this is a big election and every vote counts, but Spath also tells CBS 6 she's going to vote no matter what.
Virginia high school students are working to bring voter registration to high schools. A small group of seniors at Marshall HS in Falls Church is lobbying Congress to pass a law legalizing voter registration in high schools nationwide. But they're learning it's not easy.....Preview: They've been working on the project for the past year. Their goal: get high school students excited about doing their civic duty. They think in-school voter registration can boost the number of people who register significantly.
Drivers should be aware of a partial road closure in Henrico County. The Department of Public Utilities says a water main broke yesterday on Staples Mill Road. Two northbound lanes are closed between Thalbro Street and Waller Road. Work is expected to last until at least tomorrow. Drivers are asked to avoid the area.
In observance of Columbus Day and Indigenous People's Day, most banks and non-essential federal offices will be closed today. This includes all Wells Fargo and Bank of America locations, however Chase branches will be open. In addition, there will be no mail delivery today, as all U.S. Post Office locations will be closed.
