A gas leak is being blamed for a house explosion in Prince William County yesterday. Firefighters were called to the 59-hundred block of Colby Hunt Court in Haymarket around 4:15 p.m. after the leak was reported. First responders evacuated the residents and reported the explosion just after 5:30 p.m. The owner of the home blamed the fire and explosion on a contractor who allegedly broke the line feeding natural gas to the house. No injuries have been reported.

The city council voted unanimously yesterday to spend just over four-million dollars to build the 5/31 Memorial. The memorial will be built at the corner of Nimmo Parkway and Princess Anne, near the Virginia Beach Municipal Center building where 12 people were shot and killed more than five years ago. Planners hope to have the memorial ready to open by May 31st, 2026.
The Small Business Administration is out of money for its disaster loan program after hurricanes Helene and Milton. The agency said Tuesday it's pausing new low interest loan offers unless Congress allocates more funding. In the meantime, the agency is telling people to continue to apply for assistance so they'll be positioned once money is available.
