A former propane company employee is facing charges for a deadly house explosion that happened in Sterling earlier this year. Loudoun County Fire announced the charges against Roger Bentley yesterday. Investigators say a propane leak was the cause of the February explosion that killed a firefighter and injured nearly a dozen other people. Bentley was indicted by a grand jury on multiple charges, including involuntary manslaughter and unlawful release of hazardous materials.
Some National Forest areas in Virginia are reopening post Helene.Preview: Governor Youngkin has issued his 40th executive order as governor of Virginia. The latest order was signed Monday and directs state agencies to prepare for wildfire season. The Virginia Department of Forestry will act as the lead agency, coordinating wildfire response with other local, state and federal officials. The order also directs the Department of Forestry and the Virginia Department of Fire Programs to create a Wildfire Annex to integrate wildfire management into the state's Emergency Operations Plan.
The IRS is raising federal tax brackets for 2025 to adjust for inflation. The standard deduction for married couples filing together will increase to 30-thousand dollars and 15-thousand for single taxpayers.
