Multiple Republicans are joining the race to replace state Senator John McGuire following his election to Congress. McGuire won the Fifth District congressional seat in the general election after beating Republican Congressman Bob Good in a primary earlier this year. Six GOP candidates have already filed paperwork to run for McGuire's seat in Senate District Ten. The Republican committee overseeing the special election process is set to meet tomorrow and could set dates for primaries and the general election.
The U.S. Postal Service is coming out with a Betty White stamp. The late actress's image is one among a few new stamps to debut next year. The Postal Service called the "Golden Girls" star an "icon of American television" who "gained younger generations of fans as she entered her 90s." The stamp features a digital illustration of White based on a 2010 photograph of her. She died at 99 years old in 2021.
