First responders are blaming an underground fire for the partial collapse of a parking lot in James City County. The fire was reported early Saturday morning at Williamsburg Premium Outlets and was traced to an underground stormwater drainage system. Pictures from the scene show several areas of collapsed asphalt behind the stores. The fire was still burning early yesterday and investigators are trying to determine the cause.
