A northern Virginia high school football team that's been accused of improper player recruitment has withdrawn from the state playoffs. The Fairfax County school district announced the withdrawal of Hayfield Secondary School yesterday. The decision came after a series of text messages between Hayfield's student activities director and an unidentified person were released publicly. The district superintendent said the texts are problematic because they include references to possible improper player recruitment. Hayfield was originally banned from the playoffs by the Virginia High School League but was reinstated through a court order.
