The student activities director at Hayfield Secondary School is resigning as a probe into the school's football team continues. Fairfax County Public Schools confirmed the resignation of Monty Fritts yesterday, saying it would be effective on Monday. The governor met with his Advisory Council on Revenue Estimates on Monday and said afterward that he wants to keep the higher standard deduction in place. The General Assembly approved increasing the deduction to 85-hundred dollars for single filers and 17-thousand dollars for joint filers last year. The governor will meet with the legislature's budget committees next month to outline his proposed changes to the state's two-year budget.
