A woman is being charged with trying to hire someone to carry out a murder plot in southwest Virginia. The Henry County Sheriff's Office announced the arrest of 44-year-old Gennevieve McGhee of Ridgeway on Wednesday. Investigators say a confidential source met with McGhee at her home on Tuesday and was told details about a plot to rob and kill an unidentified victim. The recorded conversation allegedly included plans for payment as well as instructions for carrying out the crimes. McGhee has been charged with solicitation of murder and conspiracy to commit a felony.

Thanksgiving marks the start of a Christmas tradition in Chesterfield County. After enjoying Thanksgiving dinner yesterday, the Bottoms family flipped the switch on their Christmas light display in Magnolia Green. It consists of about 100-thousand lights that they start putting up in September. The family tradition goes back almost thirty years when Hunter Bottoms' dad started decorating their home in Brandermill. Now, families from around the area come every Thanksgiving night to see the display's debut. Hunter's wife tells 8News 'we've become a part of a lot of family's traditions now.' It's also for a good cause as the Bottoms raise money for local foster kids through Worthdays.
