An event honoring veterans, prisoners of war and those declared missing in action will begin this afternoon at the University of Virginia. About 100 members of campus ROTC units will begin a 24-hour vigil at the university's rotunda at 3 p.m. The event will conclude tomorrow afternoon with a color guard, a flag-folding ceremony and a 21-gun salute.
Five out of six health care workers in hospitals and nursing homes are saying "no" to COVID-19 boosters. The CDC is reporting that just over 15-percent got boosted during the 2023-24 respiratory virus season. The drop-off came at the end of a Biden administration vaccine mandate and free government-funded COVID shots. A recent survey shows that despite the fact that many healthcare workers view COVID as a serious health threat, they're not that confident in the safety, effectiveness and benefit of COVID-19 vaccine. However, 80-percent of hospital workers got flu shots while 45-percent did so at nursing homes.
