The Danville City Council voted to renew Averett University's contract as the fixed-base operator of the city's general aviation airport through 2030, despite previous missed lease and tax payments. The decision was made without discussion among council members, with only one member voting against the renewal. The Cardinal News reports Averett has been the FBO in Danville since 2021. The lease agreement includes provisions for rental fees, fuel sales, and utilities, with Averett now back in compliance with all payments.

Virginia's governor is trying to implement measures to improve maternal health. Glenn Youngkin announced initiatives yesterday that would ensure hospitals are equipped with safety bundles in order to strengthen emergency care for obstetric patients. Another measure would make it easier for out-of-state midwives to receive Virginia licensure. In all, Youngkin is looking for four-million-additional-dollars in the budget for things like the expansion of perinatal health hubs.  
 
 
The Federal Reserve concludes its two-day policy meeting today. The Fed is widely expected to cut interest rates again when it announces its decision later today. It would be the third rate and final rate cut of the year with most economists expecting a quarter percentage point reduction.
