The Virginia General Assembly has reached an agreement on budget amendments that will be sent to the governor. House and Senate budget negotiators agreed on a plan yesterday that will give bonuses to state workers, including a one-thousand-dollar bonus to teachers and other public school employees. The budget plan also includes over a billion dollars in rebates to Virginia taxpayers as well as increasing the state income tax standard deduction. The House and Senate will vote on the plan tomorrow before adjourning the current session.

Parts of the East Coast were hit with a ton of snow yesterday and treacherous travel conditions remain an issue. Most of it came down in Virgina and North Carolina, where more than a foot of snow fell in some areas. Elsewhere, states like Texas are dealing with unusually cold temperatures.
Black ice could be an issue if you're on the roads this morning. The National Weather Service says black ice may have formed overnight. With temperatures dropping, any lingering moisture or slush may have frozen. The threat for black ice could last into the mid morning hours until temperatures rise above freezing. The NWS advises driving with caution and allowing extra time to get where you're going. Highs today are expected to be in the low 40s before dropping into the teens overnight.
