A man has been sentenced to 100 years in prison for the death of a western Virginia police officer. Virginia Attorney General Jason Miyares announced the sentencing of Michael Donovan White yesterday. White was arrested following the 2021 death of Big Stone Gap Police Officer Michael Chandler. He pled guilty to first-degree murder and other charges last year in Wise County. He was also sentenced to 100 years in federal prison in February on murder and drug conspiracy charges.  
 
 
Thanks to a local business, an Easter tradition can continue in Richmond. Sage Wealth Advisors has decided to sponsor Easter on Parade. Organizers were going to stop holding the event due to a lack of funding. Sage's Managing Partner George Gordon tells 12 On Your Side the city and other sponsors chipped in additional funds. The parade is set for April 20th at 1:00.  
 
 
Virginia students interested in a cross-country field trip have about a month to submit their contest entries.

Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick said in an interview that President Trump aims to eliminate taxes for individuals earning less than $150-thousand dollars annually, including tips and overtime. Lutnick suggested that ending overseas tax evasion could offset the revenue loss from tax cuts. Investing dot com reports Trump's $4.5 trillion dollar tax cut plan was approved by the House and faces a Senate vote, while his efforts to reduce government spending have sparked controversy. Despite concerns over economic disruption, Lutnick believes it is worthwhile to risk a recession to advance Trump's policies.
