Governor Youngkin says he's happy he signed a bill banning the use of FDA-approved synthetic dyes in Virginia's public school cafeterias. The governor said the bill he signed Friday is probably one of the most important of his term. The new law passed both chambers of the General Assembly unanimously. It bans seven color additives from meals and snacks served in cafeterias and sold in vending machines on school campuses. The bill will go into effect in 2027.  
 
 
In an effort to protect Americans from injesting toxic chemicals, the Trump administration is launching an online database to evaluate potential contaminants in foods. The Chemical Contaminants Transparency Tool is part of an FDA program to modernize food safety. The searchable FDA database has a consolidated list of contaminant levels in different food items.

Former colleagues are paying tribute to former federal prosecutor Jessica Aber following her death. Aber was found dead in her home in Alexandria on Saturday and an investigation into the circumstances is currently underway. U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi called Aber's death "deeply tragic," while Virginia Attorney General Jason Miyares praised her work with the Ceasefire Virginia initiative. Aber held the position of U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia from 2021 until she left office in January. She was 43-years-old.
