A suspect who caused a shelter-in-place order at the University of Virginia last week has been taken into custody. The Virginia State Police says Nyeem Hill was arrested yesterday in Charlottesville. Hill crashed into several cars while trying to avoid a traffic stop on February 25th. He fled the area on foot, leading officials to issue a shelter-in-place for the campus. The 19-year-old faces charges from last week's incident as well as several outstanding warrants in Albermarle County.
Floyd County is advancing in the VHSL boys' basketball playoffs after a bizarre ending to Tuesday's quarterfinal game. The Buffaloes were hosting Virginia High School and leading in by five points in overtime. The referees ended the game with about 52 seconds left after multiple technical fouls were called and a parent of one of the players came onto the court. The VHSL initially ruled that the referees could only suspend the game and asked both schools if they wanted to resume play. The league announced yesterday that both teams had decided not to continue the game, giving Floyd County the win.
