The General Assembly and Gov. Glenn Youngkin are at odds over funding school support staff positions in Virginia.Preview: The Virginia State Police have seized more guns and drugs as part of an ongoing statewide investigation. State police investigators and other law enforcement agencies have been working to reduce crimes such as drug distribution and human trafficking around Virginia. Between March 20th and 27th, those investigators seized over 91 pounds of narcotics and 19 firearms. One explosive device was also found. The agency also received a dozen tips about possible human trafficking cases, bringing the total number of tips received to nearly 780.
Officials in Arlington are planning to increase security at the Pentagon City Mall following a series of weekend fights. Officers were called to the mall's food court on Saturday night. Mall security, police officers and a store employee were allegedly assaulted during the fights and three teens were arrested. Arlington County Police say patrols will be increased around the mall and off-duty officers will maintain a presence there on weekends.

While there may be no clear, official origin, references to the first of April as a day of trickery date back all the way to the 14th century. It's believed that April 1st was celebrated as New Year's Day before the Gregorian calendar changed it to January 1st. Those who didn't get the word about the change were called "fools," and people played tricks on them.
