Newport News' top prosecutor says he is appalled by the findings of a special grand jury probe into the shooting of an elementary school teacher. Commonwealth's Attorney Howard Gwynn called the security lapses uncovered by the report disturbing during a press conference yesterday. The grand jury probe was prompted by last year's shooting of a Richneck Elementary school teacher by a six-year-old student. The report indicates that administrators ignored warnings that the student had a gun and refused to offer help to the teacher after she was shot. It also says there should be an investigation into possible obstruction of justice due to missing files and documents related to the case.
