A Hampton woman is claiming that HII Newport News Shipbuilding Unit is not communicating effectively with her and her family following her husband's sudden death at work. 13News Now reports the employee, identified as Albert Polite, was found unconscious at work and later passed away. Despite a statement from the shipbuilding facility expressing condolences, the wife of the deceased tells the news outlet that they had not received any communication from the facility.
Weather may be responsible for causing a fire to spread in Chesterfield County. A brush fire was reported last night near CSX train tracks along Route One. It started to spread toward an apartment complex, but firefighters were able to get it under control, and no one was hurt. There's no word on how the fire started but arson is not suspected.

The agency spent about 640-million dollars on the response to Hurricane Helene and this year's winter weather. V-DOT implemented some money-saving actions in February to reduce the estimated budget gap to just under 200-million dollars. Officials believe reimbursements from FEMA and the Federal Highway Administration could cover most of that deficit.
