The General Assembly has reached an agreement on rolling back changes to a tuition program for Virginia military families. Democratic leaders announced yesterday that they will repeal the changes made to the Virginia Military Survivors and Dependents Education Program. They will also add money from the state's current surplus to help finance the program over the next two years. The House and Senate will return to Richmond on July 18th to finalize the agreement.
Virginia Republican Congressman Bob Good says he wants a recount after losing his Fifth District primary to state Senator John McGuire. The state Board of Elections certified the final results in the primary yesterday, saying McGuire won by nearly 400 votes. The margin allows Good to ask for a recount, though he will have to pay for it. Former President Donald Trump endorsed McGuire in the race, criticizing Good after the congressman backed Florida Governor Ron DeSantis during the GOP presidential primary.
