The National Weather Service confirms that an EF-1 tornado touched down in an area about 35 miles north of Richmond last week. The weather service says the tornado traveled from Golansville to Lake Caroline before lifting off about two miles southwest of Ladysmith on Thursday. The tornado had a maximum wind speed between 100 and 110 miles an hour and was on the ground for about five minutes. The twister knocked down trees and damaged several homes but there were no reported injuries.

An Israeli man who lost his brother in the war with the terrorist group, Hamas, is in town to share his story. Menachem Kelmason was in Richmond yesterday to discuss the heroic actions he took with his brother and nephew on October 7th. Kelmason says when he heard about Hamas' surprise attack, the three went house-to-house for 18 hours, rescuing over a hundred people who were hiding in their safe rooms and guiding them to safety. Kelmason's brother died during the rescue, but as painful as it is, Kelmason says his brother would want the story to be told. Jewish Community Federation of Richmond President Josh Goldberg agrees. He tells 12 On Your Side it's truly amazing and heroic.
