First responders were called to Cuisine Solutions in Sterling on Wednesday night after a possible gas leak was reported. Nearly 300 employees had to be evacuated and evaluated. Four of those employees were still under observation yesterday afternoon. Loudoun County Fire and Rescue confirmed yesterday that a faulty valve was responsible for the leak.
Dangerously hot conditions are expected today in Central Virginia. The National Weather Service has an Excessive Heat Warning in effect from 10:00 to 8:00. Heat index values up to 112 are expected. That significantly increases the chances of getting a heat-related illness. The NWS advises drinking plenty of fluids, staying in an air-conditioned room, staying out of the sun and checking up on relatives and neighbors.
Johnny Cash will be honored with a statue inside the U.S. Capitol next month. A statue of the country music legend will be added to the National Statuary Hall collection on September 24th. The eight-foot-tall statue of Cash will replace the current statue of James P. Clarke, a former Arkansas governor and U.S. Senator.
