A judge has decided that the husband of a missing Manassas Park woman is a danger to the community and a flight risk. The Prince William County judge decided yesterday that Naresh Bhatt will be held without bond on a charge of concealing a body. Police arrested Bhatt last week after a search of his home reportedly discovered an attempt to clean up a large amount of blood and evidence that a body had been dragged away. Police and community members have been searching for his wife, Mamta Kafle Bhatt, since last month and have been unable to find her.
Homelessness is on the rise in Virginia's capital city.Preview: Lightning is responsible for damaging two homes in Chesterfield County. Chesterfield County Fire and EMS says the strikes were within six minutes of each other. Both homes caught fire. No one was hurt, but four people are displaced. The Red Cross is helping them.
An air quality alert will be in effect today for DC and the surrounding area. The Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments issued the Code Orange Air Alert for DC, northern Virginia, Prince George's County and lower Montgomery County. The alert is for groups who may be sensitive to poor air quality, including those with heart or lung disease, children and the elderly. The Council of Governments also asks residents to avoid activities that can increase air pollution such as using charcoal grills and gasoline-powered lawnmowers.
