Governor Glenn Youngkin is urging Virginians to be prepared as the remnants of Tropical Storm Debby move north. The governor posted on social media yesterday afternoon, telling Virginians to prepare for powerful wind and rain and to exercise caution when it arrives. He also thanked Virginia first responders who have traveled south to assist states affected by the storm. The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather outlook for parts of Virginia, predicting heavy rain and some local flooding through the end of the week.
Virginia's school bus driver vacancy rate has decreased by five percent over the past three school years, according to the Virginia Department of Education.Preview: The Virginia Hospital and Health Care Association says there has been an increase in vape related emergency room visits. This is compared with tobacco product visits. They say the number of ER visits related to vaping has nearly doubled from 23-thousand to more than 49-thousand over a three year span from 2020 to 2023. The association warns that vaping products are often times less regulated and warrant closer examination to assess long-term health implications.
A small group of former Republicans from Florida started a ‘Republicans for Harris’ group after turning their back on former President Trump. The South Florida Sun Sentinal reports Rich Logis is one of three Florida co-chairs of the Republicans for Harris group that now claims to have 25 members. Meanwhile, the Kamala Harris campaign claims to have started the group and USA Today says they plan to roll out the group during upcoming events in Arizona, North Carolina, and Pennsylvania.
