An assistant principal at a Spotsylvania County elementary school has been charged with assault and battery of a student. The county sheriff's office announced the misdemeanor charge against Misty Kelley yesterday. The mother of a five-year-old first-grade student called the sheriff's office on August 28th after her child allegedly came home from Spotswood Elementary School with bruises on her back and ribs. The child identified Kelley as the adult who caused the bruises. Kelley was placed on administrative leave following the accusation.

The city held a public meeting yesterday at Linwood Hilton Elementary School to discuss the intersection of Laburnum Avenue and Hermitage Road on the Northside. That's where a statue of Confederate General A.P. Hill once stood before it was removed two years ago. The intersection is more known now for how dangerous it is. One change discussed last night was a roundabout, but at least one resident isn't all that picky. She tells CBS 6 something needs to be done because it's too dangerous there right now.
Hormel is teaming up with General Mills to create a new twist on breakfast. The company announced this week that it plans to sell Cinnamon Toast Crunch Bacon beginning September 16th. The product will combine the cinnamon coating from Cinnamon Toast Crunch with Hormel's Black Label Bacon. The product will be sold at selected Walmart and Kroger stores.
