Chesterfield County Fire and EMS welcomed a nine-year-old girl named Mackenzie to Fire Station 7 on Friday night. Firefighters wanted to honor her for saving her family from a fire last week. The fire started in Mackenzie's bedroom while her brother, sister and parents were asleep. She woke them all up, and everyone got out of the house safely. In her visit to the fire station, Mackenzie got to eat dinner with the firefighters, try on their gear, tour the station, and she was named an honorary firefighter. She also got a special treat as firefighters surprised her and her siblings with toys to replace the ones they lost in the fire. Photos of Mackenzie's visit were posted yesterday on Facebook.com/ChesterfieldVAFireEMS.
