One person has been displaced after a house fire in Virginia Beach. The fire department responded to heavy smoke and flames coming from the home and garage. The flames were quickly brought under control with no injuries reported. The cause of the fire was determined to be a space heater in the garage.
A southwest Virginia native is on his way to the Baseball Hall of Fame. Billy Wagner was born in Marion and learned to throw left-handed after breaking his right arm several times. He went on to play baseball at Ferrum College before being drafted by the Houston Astros in 1993. He spent 16 years in the major leagues and was voted into the Hall of Fame yesterday in his last year of eligibility. The induction ceremony will be held in Cooperstown, New York this summer.
