Democratic Senator Tim Kaine of Virginia is telling federal workers to resist the offer.Preview: This "deferred resignation" would include a severance package of about eight months' pay and benefits. The administration says it expects five to ten percent of the federal workforce to quit. The resignation period opened Tuesday and runs through February 6th.
Services will be held this week for a man who made history in Richmond. Former Mayor Henry Marsh died last week at the age of 91. When he was elected in 1977, he became the city's first African-American mayor. He later became a state senator. The VSP will hold a procession for Marsh tomorrow morning at 10:00, and his body will lay at the state senate until 3:00. A viewing will take place Friday from 3:00 to 6:00 at Manning Funeral Home on North 25th Street, and a Celebration of Life is set for Saturday at 1:00 at St. Paul's Baptist Church on Creighton Road.
