One man tells CBS 6 he knew a decade ago his neighborhood was going to get an extra 400 homes, and it feels like the government hasn't planned very well. The University of Virginia Brain Institute is getting federal funding for a clinical trial using ketamine as a treatment for epileptic seizures. The National Institutes of Health is providing over nine-million dollars to help fund the nationwide clinic trial. Doctors hope ketamine can help reduce the effects of seizures on patients who don't respond to standard treatment. Those effects can include brain damage and death. The trial is expected to begin this summer and will involve about 60 academic hospitals.
