The Department of Defense has granted honorable discharges to over 800 service members who were separated from the military due to their sexual orientation under the "don't ask, don't tell" policy. The policy, in effect from 1994 to 2011, prohibited openly gay, lesbian, and bisexual individuals from serving in the armed forces. CBS News reports advocates have long called for justice for LGBTQ service members affected by discriminatory policies, with many veterans appealing for upgrades to their discharge status. A recent lawsuit filed by LGBTQ veterans challenges the military's handling of their discharges, claiming violations of constitutional rights.  
 
 
The Supreme Court will hear oral arguments today on a case that could affect disability payments for veterans. The case centers around two veterans who claim to have post-traumatic stress disorder stemming from their service in the U.S. military, but who were denied benefits. A ruling in the case is expected by next June.  
 
 
The Virginia Museum of Fine Arts is sharing details of what'll be its largest expansion ever. The VMFA has released the initial architectural design renderings for McGlothlin Wing II. It'll include 173-thousand square feet for new galleries and event space. It'll cost over 260 million dollars, and it's expected to open in 2028. The lead designer tells CBS 6 it recalls the past while reflecting our present and anticipating our future.
