Two Republican election officials are suing the state in what appears to be an attempt to force hand counting of ballots in future elections. The lawsuit filed in Waynesboro Circuit Court earlier this month says voting machines used across the state are unreliable and could be subject to hacking. The two GOP officials also threatened to vote against certifying election results if ballots aren't hand-counted. The state Board of Elections has not commented on the lawsuit.
Lynchburg City Schools has launched a new Missed Bus Pickup program to help students get to school on time.Preview: The U.S. Department of Transportation is giving tentative approval to five new long-distance routes at Reagan National Airport. The routes approved include flights to San Diego by Alaska Airlines and San Antonio by American Airlines. Delta will provide flights to Seattle, Southwest will fly to Las Vegas and United will take passengers to San Francisco. The agency is accepting comments on the new routes through October 30th. The airlines are expected to launch the new flights early next year.
