Authorities are searching for a Norfolk man reported missing from a tugboat. Thirty-three-year-old Derrick Fluellen was last seen around 12:30 p.m. Saturday on the tugboat Atlantic Oceanic. He was reportedly keeping fire watch on the tugboat during maintenance work at Portsmouth Marine Terminal. A spokesperson for the Coast Guard said the search is being done with the assumption that Fluellen fell overboard. The Coast Guard suspended the search last night after failing to find the missing contractor.
Speed is suspected in a crash in Hanover County. Three people were hurt in yesterday morning's crash on Old Ridge Road. The sheriff's office says the three are juveniles. Their car went off the road, through a fence and rolled over. The three were taken to the hospital. Deputies say one is in serious condition. The other two had minor injuries.
Southwest Virginia is addressing mental health emergencies with two new facilities.Preview: Roanoke College is ending its first football season in decades a bit earlier than planned. The college says George Mason canceled its scheduled November 3rd club game against the Maroons. The college restarted its football program this year after an 82-year absence and won four club games during the season. The Maroons will join the Old Dominion Athletic Conference and play a full schedule next season.
