The inaugural 'muster' in Lynchburg recruits new militia members.Preview: More Virginians will be heading south to help with the response to another severe storm. Seventeen members of Virginia's Task Force Two will be heading to Georgia today as part of the emergency response for Hurricane Milton. Members of northern Virginia's Task Force One have also been activated to support the hurricane response. The groups will stage in Atlanta and could be deployed to Florida to assist local agencies with search and rescue operations.
Kids in need will benefit from an event in Chesterfield County. Chesterfield CASA hosted a Family Festival yesterday in Midlothian at Westchester Commons. Court Appointed Special Advocates, or CASA, is a group of volunteers appointed by judges who represent children that have been abused, neglected or abandoned. Rachel Degraba is on the Chesterfield CASA board. She tells 8News the money raised yesterday goes toward training for advocates to support children.
McDonald's is looking to expand its chicken products and boost sales. The fast food chain is debuting its newest product October 10th, the chicken Big Mac. The sandwich will stay true to the original Big Mac but substitute burger patties with two tempura-battered chicken pieces. The sandwich has been on international McDonald's menus for some time now.
