A group of Fairfax County high schools may wind up boycotting this year's football playoffs. A county court judge granted a last-minute injunction that put the Hawks into the playoff field. But tonight's game between Hayfield and Thomas Edison may not happen, as Edison is one of six Fairfax County schools that have threatened to forfeit their games if Hayfield is allowed to play. The head of the Fairfax County Public Schools has promised an investigation into student-athlete transfers and eligibility, though the coaches involved have not said if that promise will get them to call off the boycott.

Monday's decision came after several groups sued the state over the decision to leave the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative following Governor Youngkin's election. The judge ruled that the General Assembly was the only body in the state with the authority to end the RGGI agreement. A spokesperson for the governor's office said the ruling will appealed.
