Voter turnout in Virginia is down this year compared to 2020.Preview: A Massachusetts woman is dead following a Tuesday crash on Interstate 495 near Alexandria. The Virginia State Police say a Dodge Ram truck ran into the back of a Lexus sedan that was stopped due to traffic. The impact led to a crash involving three other vehicles and caused the truck to flip onto its side. A passenger in the Lexus died and three other people were injured. The state police say charges are pending in the case.
The VCU women's basketball team is off to a good start. The Rams beat Maryland-Eastern Shore, 75-60, last night at the Siegel Center in their season opener. Junior guard Timaya Lewis-Eutsey scored a career high 28 points for VCU. This is the third straight year VCU has won its season opener. The Rams will play at Howard on Sunday.
A new study suggests that feeling more sleepy during the day as you get older could mean you're at higher risk for developing dementia. In the study published Wednesday, over 35 percent of those who experienced daytime sleepiness developed a cognitive risk syndrome that could lead to dementia. The syndrome often results in a slow walking speed and memory loss. The French authors of the study said, "Establishing the relationship between sleep dysfunction" and cognitive risk "is important because early intervention may offer the best hope for preventing dementia."
