A local lawmaker wants changes after what he calls a heartbreaking report on conditions at a youth jail in Chesterfield County. Delegate Mike Jones talked recently about a report that came out last week about the Bon Air Juvenile Correctional Center in his district. The report found the center didn't offer the residents enough to do, didn't give them a chance to develop any skills and left them confined in their rooms for too long. The report blames the problems, in part, on inadequate staffing. Jones calls that an old excuse, and he says a fix has to be found. He also tell CBS 6 it may be a good idea to release kids that are non-violent because they'll be better off.

That's only down slightly from the 203 openings the district had before the school year started. HCPS Talent Acquisition Ambassador Kenya Jackson says there are fewer candidates enrolling in teacher prep programs while the demand for teachers rises. She also tells 12 On Your Side the district will hold job fairs in February and March.
