The trial of a man accused of killing his wife is continuing in Amherst County. An investigator with the sheriff's office testified yesterday that cadaver dogs helped them uncover the remains of Elsie Wiggington underneath a concrete slab last August, around two-months after she was last seen on her property. Her husband, Fred, is on trial for her murder. An inmate testified that Fred admitted to shooting his wife in the back of the head.
Virginia lawmakers have some numbers to crunch in the governor's proposed budget amendments. Governor Glenn Youngkin said yesterday that revised economic forecasts include a surplus of over three-billion-dollars in the next two-years. He's looking for an extra amount of nearly 300-million-dollars in public school construction. Youngkin says his tax relief plans are expected to save one-billion-dollars.
The North American Aerospace Defense Command is confirming the appearance of several Russian military aircraft in the Alaska Air Defense Identification Zone. NORAD says a total of four Russian military planes were spotted in the zone on Tuesday. The aircraft reportedly remained within international airspace and did not enter American or Canadian airspace.
