Two people are dead after a weekend crash on the Blue Ridge Parkway. First responders were called to a crash near milepost 11 in Nelson County on Sunday. Authorities later identified the two people killed as Troy and Cheryl Hagwood of Stuarts Draft. Troy Hagwood was a long-time National Park Service employee who worked on the Parkway. Investigators say their vehicle hit a tree limb before leaving the road and crashing into a tree, causing it to catch fire.  
 
 
The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Secretary accused two federal lawmakers of lying about staffing levels at the upcoming Chesapeake VA Outpatient Clinic. Democrats Senator Tim Kaine and Representative Bobby Scott expressed concerns that the clinic would open with only 25%-30% of its full staff. VA Secretary Doug Collins acknowledged the Trump administration's efforts to cut the size of the VA but denied veterans seeking care be affected by the move towards efficiency.
