The Central Virginia Health District is issuing a warning after a rabid fox was discovered in Amherst County. The fox was reportedly killed when it attacked some chickens in the Madison Heights area. The fox was submitted for testing and found to have rabies. Officials say people and pets should avoid coming into contact with wild animals, especially those that are sick or injured. Any bites or other injuries caused by wild animals should be reported to the health department for further investigation.

Chesterfield County's Jacob Lee is a bright spot in a down season for VCU baseball. The freshman out of Matoaca [[Mah-toke-ah]] High School hit his 17th home run of the season yesterday. That's a new school record for freshman. It's also the third most in school history. Lee's home run came in a 7-4 win over the University of Massachusetts, but the Rams' season ends with a record of just 17-and-37.

The number of travelers this Memorial Day Weekend is expected to be record breaking. Triple A is forecasting 45 million Americans will hit the road between May 22nd and 26th for the holiday weekend. That would break the previous record set in 2005. More than 39 million people are expected to travel by car and over three-and-a-half-million will do so by plane, an almost two-percent increase from last year.
