A Richmond official who recently resigned admits she made mistakes. Petula Burks was director of strategic communications and civic engagement for the last two years. She resigned on Monday after the Times-Dispatch reported her city purchase card was suspended for spending over 200-thousand dollars in just six months. Burks says she made mistakes, but they all came from a good place, and she'd do them again with caution and guardrails. She tells 12 On Your Side she accidentally used the purchase card to help a family in desperate need extend their hotel stay, and she paid back the money.
Tourism spending is booming in one Virginia town.Preview: The Virginia Department of Health says investigators have been unable to determine what caused a recent wave of illnesses at Lake Anna. Dozens of people were sickened by E. coli over the Memorial Day weekend. Water quality testing did not find significant concentrations of E. coli at the lake and the agency now says its investigation is closed. They are advising those who plan to swim in the lake to take precautions due to the untreated water. That includes not swallowing lake water, showering after swimming and avoiding the lake when ill.
