The congressional task force investigating the assassination attempt on former President Trump is requesting documents and briefings from key federal agencies. Fox News reports some of those details could include things like shooter, Thomas Crooks, made multiple visits for months to a gun range where Homeland Security also held a training session within hours of one of his visits. Lawmakers requested briefings from the Department of Homeland Security, Secret Service, FBI, and Department of Justice to review ongoing investigations into the shooting no later than August 16th. A final report is expected by December.
Virginia horse race lovers may be excited about some new changes coming to the sport.Preview: Minimum wage workers in Virginia will see a slight increase in their pay on January 1st. A law passed in 2020 adjusts the state's minimum wage to account for inflation. That will push the minimum wage from 12 dollars an hour to 12-41 on January 1st. A General Assembly bill to raise the minimum to 15 dollars an hour by 2026 was vetoed by Governor Youngkin earlier this year.
A new study shows that daily marijuana use greatly increases the risk of head and neck cancers. Researchers at the University of Southern California analyzed millions of medical records. They specifically focused on patients with cannabis use disorder who continue to smoke pot daily even when it triggers serious health issues. They include a three to five times greater likelihood of head and neck cancer.
