Governor Youngkin is happy with a slight increase in student test scores during the last school year. The Virginia Department of Education announced yesterday that 70-percent of all school divisions in the state showed improvement in reading for grades three through eight. Seventy-five-percent of students in those grades also showed improvement in math. High school students tested also showed improvements in math and science, while reading scores declined slightly. Chronic absenteeism also declined by 16-percent. The governor praised the results as a turn-around from pandemic-related learning loss and urged districts to keep pushing to improve scores during the upcoming school year.
