Many Virginians wonder when a big storm off the Carolina coast will bring rain to the Richmond area. A system off the coast of the Carolinas is expected to become Tropical Cyclone Eight Monday morning before possibly strengthening to become Tropical Storm Helene. A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect from Edisto Beach, South Carolina to Ocracoke Inlet, North Carolina. Maximum sustained winds are near 45 mph with potential for strengthening before landfall. CBS6 reports while this storm is expected to track west of the Richmond area and weaken over time, it will hang around and bring the chance of rain for much of the coming week.
