One of two drivers who allegedly struck and killed a Catlett farmer and kept going is now in custody. The VSP says 54-year-old Dennis Dunning is being held without bond after being arrested Wednesday on felony hit-and-run and involunt ary manslaughter charges. Dunning is also facing charges of operating a vehicle without an ignition interlock as he's been convicted of DUIs in the past. He's accused of running down Garland Heddings on Route 806 near Catlett last Friday as the 73-year-old was crossing the road from checking his mailbox. Police are still searching for the other driver involved.
