Rocio Rivera has details.Preview: The Virginia House must approve an amendment made by the Senate to add more regulation to data centers. Virginia is considered the data center capital of the world and the legislation would mean companies seeking to build data centers in the commonwealth will also need additional approval from the local area they plan to build in. WRIC reports it also mandates an investigation into the potential effects of the data center on water, agriculture, parks, historic sites, and the surrounding land. Existing data centers in Virginia with approved rezoning will not be affected by the new regulations.
