The Virginia Beach city council has voted to start using school zone speed cameras. The council voted last night to approve an ordinance that will have the cameras set up to ticket speeders. Speed cameras are already used in school zones in Hampton, Chesapeake, Norfolk, Suffolk, and Portsmouth. The ordinance approved will also allow excess revenue from the program to fund traffic safety improvements. Opponents of the cameras say they are a way to generate revenue and will not help curb speeding  
 
A Virginia professor believes we will soon see the impact of President Trump's higher tariffs on goods from Canada, Mexico and China. VCU Professor Dr. Jeff Smith specializes in supply chain management and analytics. He tells CBS 6 higher costs will be passed on through the system to us, especially in food costs.

It is uncertain if we will eventually see higher costs for imported electronics and cars.  
 
Bluegills, a sunfish species, have been added to the Virgil R. Hazelett Reservoir at Cobbs Creek. The Virginia Department of Wildlife Resources (VDWR) says they've added nearly 200-thousand of the non-native fish to the reservoir. The fish are native to the central and eastern part of the U.S. and are mostly found in the Great Lakes, Mississippi River, and the Gulf of Mexico. The Hazelett Reservoir was created as a support for the nearby James River and releases water at times when the river experiences drought conditions. The reservoir is not open to the public
